The car was originally built for Dave Betthauser of Derby, Ks. who came up with the idea of a 62 Pontiac Bubble Top. It started out as a 61 Pontiac Bubble Top. Dave cut the rear body off of the 61 and then grafted a 62 donor car rear body/quarter panels onto the 61 body. Then 62 model door skins and front sheetmetal were added.

Dr. Alan Reed from Salina, Ks. now owns the car.
