| Q: I'm interested in the 1940 Tudor. If it's as good as it looks I'd offer $14,000. Where is the car located? Thanks. | 10/02/09 |
| I think it's as good as it looks. But realistically it does photograph well. I would say it is worn but still nice. The body is all Factory Ford Original, with some original Factory Ford Paint on the roof, top of cowl and hood. Some of the paint is worn thru in places, think folks refer to that as Patina. Fenders and doors and trunk lid have been repainted in Sherwin Williams Black Lacquer. No rust thru anywhere, but two holes were filled in side of cowl where a cowl side mount antenna had once been, otherwise no putty anywhere other than what may have come from Ford Factory. All the windows except for the Windshield and one Side glass are original Ford Factory Glass and have bubbling/aging around the edges. The running boards are original Ford Factory and the rubber is hard and worn and some pieces have chipped off. I do have diamond tucked running board covers that snap on and match the interior seats. 40 Ford with running board covers So looks wise, the paint is worn and would need to be repainted for it to be show car condition again and the running boards would need to be recovered and the glass replaced. It just depends on what you value most I guess, resto rod, or show car. I have all the drivetrain mods listed on a separate webpage here: http://carnut.com/iown/40mods.html I think that is all self explanatory, the car is a very good driver and I do drive it regularly. The interior is upholstered in genuine leather by a local noted upholstery guy Paul Matz back in the 1970. The leather has held up well but could use a good cleaning. All the window moldings have been chromed as well as several other details on the car like the hood and trunk hinges and latches. But the window molding chrome has not held up well and would need to be rechromed for show quality. The A/C in the car still works well and cools right down on hot days. The door handles still have springs working so they don't hang down after using. All the locks work and even the interior dome light works from a switch. I have owned the car since 1977 and have done some 'rebuilds' and mods over time with it. The car really is ForSale I do need to sell it, but there is some emotional attachment. Anyhow we are located in Wichita, Kansas. | 10/02/09 |

Q: How much are you asking for your '40 Ford? I have been looking for a '40 Coupe, however your car caught my interest. |

| A: Thanks for the interest, I'm really looking for offers. I do need to sell it, but I'm hoping I'm not too close to it see what it's really worth, so I am just asking for offers. If I get an offer near what I think it's worth a deal will be discussed. Hopefully everything is explained as much as possible on the 40 Ford page I have and it is pretty self explanatory. The car is a regular driver and fairly dependable and comfortable to drive. The car is not perfect, but I think it's pretty presentable. I'm not trying to make a fortune on the car but I do want a fairly good value from it. I don't think I'm dreaming as much as some I've seen on ebay and at some point in time, if I am comfortable with the medium, I'll most likely will try to sell it on ebay, if it doesn't sell from my web site. So please make an offer if at all interested. | 09/07/09 |
